SETTING: garibaldi project is lofty image without ostentation. Simple décor with rich tones, provide a pleasant background for socializing or sealing businessdeal.

Food:
located on Purvis sreet, garibaldi encroached onto what used to be a well-know Singaporean food locale.

The menu is a nice balance of appetizers,pastas,and mains without overwhelming the diner.portions are considerable, something to consider when you’re ordering appetizers such as the scallops with porcini mushroom or truffled cheese fondue.

Other interesting starters include wagyu beef cheeks carpaccio, stewed octopus and the spana crab with avocado and orange-saffron sauce.

Pastas that are worth considering are the linguine with crabmeat and vodka, cappelini with lobster and peas, or the delicious beef ravioli with mushroom and cream.

For dessert, try the chocolate degustation-chocolate crème brulee, sautéed banana, and spicy, white chocolate and nougat parfait with chocolate sauce.

Wine: they have an extensive, especially towards the premium end, Italian wine listing with labels from various Italian regions as well as other worl-class wines.

Service: professional, well turned out, and courteous, so even if you’re sitting in the cul-de-sac, they find some way to keep you satisfied.

Setting; charmingly secreted within  a colonial house behind the philatelic museum, flutes offers romantic dinning on the verandah or indoors in an elegant private room.
 
Food: expect fresh Australian produce prepared with flair and served without fanfare.  Seafood includes rock lobster, black cod, mulloway jewfish, scallops and king prawns. 

Opt for the tenderly-seared scallops starter or pan-fried foie de gras but pass on the too lean fins de Claire ( oysters ). 

Modern Australian food is a blend of ethnic cuisines, thus some aromatic dishes may seem familiar. The black cod with wilted tatsoi balances teriyaki with caramelized pumpkin. Roasted rack of lamb’s robust flavour is suitably teamed with delicate ‘broccolini’. 

Highlights include thai-style angus beef ( a kilo for two at $98), grilled roasted quail with riberry sauce and kangaroo served with roasted potatoes and braised endives. Desserts include light banana strudel and heavy, sticky date pudding.

Wine:
  eighty percent of the wines are from Australia and new Zealand, strongly supported by france and other regions. Wine by the glass is available.

Service:
staff are courteous, attentive and able to explain the menu.

EQUINOXS

SETTING; at the top of raffles city, equinox offers one of singapore’s best views through its very high windows, and dinning room feels spacious.

Food;
while the food is billed as pre-asian and pure western, the 14 main-course dishes are predominantly western-style with asian ingredients and touches added. 

Under ‘pure asian ‘, there are dishes like miso cod with potatoes, edamame beans and mirin dressing, which as well executed if  a bit bland; braised wagyu beef in Chinese spices with shitake mushrooms and bok choy, which was flavourful and tender. 

‘pure western ‘ dishes include crispy skinned baby seabass with shellfish brochette ( the fish was over cooked and quite tasteless ) and tenderloin of beef with mushrooms and chestnut puree that was hearty. 

Desserts are surprisingly limited to a selection of sorbets and ice creams. The food is tasty and well-presented but nothing stands out as memorable.
 
Wine; a wide selection from major regions is available, and the wines by glass list is extensive with some 20 varieties from wich to choose.
 
Service; the equinox staff are attentive and courteous.

Setting: recent renovation has removed the previously luxurious interiors and left a nondescript dinning room setting of a contemporary house with a modern latin interpretation.

Food:
Sicilian cooking forms the foundation of the cuisine at domvs with creative variations bringing out the delicate and strong flavours of Italy. 

Appetizers such as parma ham with pears, parmesan and honey ice-cream or octopus carpaccio are unique finds. 

Risotto is unusually paired with soups; celery soup with prawns, sheep cheese and spicy chorizo sausage or risotto with green chicory, scallops, anchovies and olive pesto prossessing hearty country overtones. They offer tasty home-made pastas. 

The meat dishes are more conservative. Leave space for desserts that range from famed tiramisu cake to an elegantly balanced chocolate pudding served with saffron cream and an ice-cream or prickly pear mousse with orange and yoghurtsorbet.

Wine: domvs features a comprehensive wine list which is rightly dominated by Italian wines and well-represents the various wine-making regions of Italy.

Service:
the welcoming and warm service staff here makes dinning here extremely pleasing. Staff are attentive whenever you need them.

SETTING: The stylish spacious interior oozes casual elegance and contemporary charm.Choose from breezy al fresco dining by the pool or in elegant air-conditioned comfort.

FOOD: The Mediterranean-themed restaurant’s menu is influenced by cuisines from Eastern/include the Tomato (juicy garden tomatoes with buffalo Bisque, a hearty ang flavourful concoction.

The duck (a clear and fragrant consomme’ accompanied by a thin strip of toast topped with duck liver and parma ham) is equally (a stew slow-cooked in a special clay pot) is tender and delicious. 

The seafood courses are worthy choices. Try the delectable suckling pig. Served as a pan-fried confit with apricot chutney, potato gratin ang sautéed mushrooms. For dessert, try the panna cotta served in three shot glasses of different flavours.

WINE: there is a comprehensive selection of wines, from Europe and the new World, along with a commendable selection of wines by the glass.

SERVICE: staff is professional yet arriable. In fact, the manager personally makes sure every guests is well-attended to.

SETTING: Doc Cheng’s
features charmingly theatrical décor with eclectic touches inparted by decorativepillars, white curtain booths, polished black-and-white flooring and creative tableware.

FOOD: Doc Cheng’s believes ‘Food is a marriage of ideas’,and this idea is made evidet in the trans-ethnic menu. 

Starters include four large Canadian oysters gleaming with freshness and  flavors.
S liced Venison Tataki does not measure up, despite the promise of melting, tempura-style foie de gras. Try the Egg son-in-Law, a starter with duck yolk and Japanese breadcrumb  crust and choices include herbed paneer and peppered soft-shell crab. 

Amongst mains, Szechuan Rack of Lamb imparts a gratifying feeling. The Australian chops marinated is Asian sauces are cooked in a tandoor which imparts a smoky flavor. 

Golden Snapper and Tandoori Ocean Trout are seafood highlights. For dessert, choose the Valrhona Bavarian, layered brandy snaps featuring ruby-red kaffir citrus sorbet.

WINE:
Mainly high-Quality New World wines are offered. Doc Cheng’s own wines appear on all tables. House wines by the glass cost about $15.

SERVICE: Expect courteous and knowledgeable service from senior staff but less from the newer staff.
